Yes it is, if you want to stay on protocol. Even in maintenance you should try to not drink soda. It’s just not good for you and can cause you to gain weight, I use to love diet cokes. However, I now drink Sparkling Ice a couple times a week and it satisfies the soda taste and carbonation craving.

@cheesecloth hummm. You’ve tried Sparkling Ice? It’s not like plain carbonated water.

@cheesecloth you are so welcome!

@cheesecloth I do the LaCroix orange with some of the IP Tangerine water enhancer; it’s actually pretty good. I only use 1/2 a packet though otherwise it’s too sweet. I also found some other waters that are IP compliant at a local Whole Foods store

If you sneak, make sure it doesn’t have Aspartame as that will spike your insulin as bad if not worse than sugar. Look for Sucralose like what’s in Zevia. The diet drinks from Soda Stream have Sucralose as well.

@incommunicative35 - It is not bad!

@incommunicative35 . These stevia pops aren’t bad. The cola is bleh but the cream soda and root beer are pretty good.

This is my coach's words. "if you where say to have 'A' diet Pepsi every once in awhile, then you have to drink that amount in water" so if I had a 12 oz can then I'd have to drink another 12oz of water. she was giving me a pointer for when I was at a holiday party.

@fredette its because of the caffein

No diet soda is good for you whether on protocol or not. how about making own sun tea with lemons in it or at night take a quart jar of water, put slices of lemon and chill over nite. As you drink water during the day add water to the jar. add sliced cucumber too, plus a few slices of strawberry. don’t worry, considering IP says no soda, and the coach says it is ok anyway, one strawberry will be ok. If the addiction to soda is so bad you can’t give it up, put the tea in a soda can till you can. Just a thought

You will be so disappointed. You will finally taste it for what it is. Chemicals and nasty. Just don’t.

Have one. Then don’t. It’s not going to take you off the diet. Yes drink more water. I wouldn’t have more than one a week. But do what makes you happy and successful.

Try Zevia! They taste just like soda with flavors like orange, grape, cola, cherry cola, cream soda, etc. satisfies my urge for any soda ever again regardless of being on phase 1! Good luck!

You can have Coke Zero or Pepsi Zero - up to three a day.

@camphor1444 my coach said as long as it’s the zero. Right Joanne Sweetland?
by (6k points)
@ebberta I was told this as well as its not aspartame
by (1.1k points)
@flightless42657 must be a Canadian thing lol
by (1.1k points)
@camphor1444 I find there are a lot of discrepancies between coaches - I guess it depends on what they’ve been informed on. We all do what works best for us in the end.
by (7.8k points)
@ebberta not a Canadian thing. our coach says NO! and why jeopardize all our hard work.
by (1.1k points)
@apposite not jeopardizing if coach approves
by (7.8k points)
@ebberta even if it's approved by a coach I don't see it being beneficial to the program. Some coaches approved vodka coolers and I definitely wouldn't have those.

I have a soda stream and I recently been making club soda (extra bubbly) and adding my lemon water enhancer to it and it’s wonderful. Really feels like I’m enjoying a real soda without all the nasty stuff. It is also a great Mock-tail. I bet the BCAA would be good in it too. NOTE: If any of you try it, make sure you put in the water enhancer after you bubble your water or it will explode if you put it in before.
