It might be good to have a little cheat meal once a week. It slows your process down a little, but it allows you to keep some sanity with staying the course. I usually intermittent fast after a cheat meal and drink tons of water. Taco Sunday is something I look forward to all week  Talk to your coach. See what he/she says!
by (550 points)
@coke1 I am a coach, that is not how it works. One cheat meal takes you out of ketosis, takes you three to four days to get back into ketosis and you will get nowhere. I have had dieter's that do this and in 6 months I've seen people lose 2 to 5 lb because they are not sticking to the protocol as it was designed. Best is to stop the program and wait until you get it in your mindset that you are going to do this. Having the right mindset is what makes my dieters successful 100 percent of the time. Plus you are basically throwing $100 away each week you do this.
by (2.2k points)
Thanks Crystal. Fair enough! I’m seeing results still with one (small) cheat meal per week, but I absolutely understand what you’re saying about it taking you out of ketosis. Cheat meals still need to be planned (for me). I don’t see it as “throwing away money”, but I can see how you would present it this way. Protocol is tricky to follow for some people; you definitely have to commit and stay the course. To be clear: the self-discipline of following protocol is something that must be present. I totally agree! Ultimately, trial and error is your best bet. Everyone’s body and metabolism is different.

I lost all my weight and then gained it all back. I started counting macros and calories using the my fitness pal app, and exercising, and this works much better for me as I love carbs too much.

I started their program and lost a little weight. One thanksgiving I was told that it was national cheat day and to eat what want with moderation. I did and ingnited those carbs fires and not able to put them out. I restarted and restarted but never could. The program is not for everyone.

Having a food plan like ideal protein helps people break up with sugar when you discover that you are a sugar addict it helps me to go to alcoholics anonymous or Overeaters Anonymous practice the 12 steps . OA. org You’re ahead of the game by being on this ideal Protein protocol. When you go to a overeaters anonymous One of the first things they say is to quit eating sugar and flour and have a food plan before you can do the steps you’re allergic to sugar you’re allergic to starches every time you cheat and get your sugar level up to high you have to re-empty your glycogen tank and start all over we do have to come to the realization if you’re a sugar addict and you have the allergy of the body and Obsession of the mind you cannot eat sugar or flour You’re discovering that you’re highly allergic. The standard American diet is SAD It’s mostly Sugar and flour

@symposiarch Sheehan I just read your post. This is my story exactly. But I just found out along with my weight gain my cholesterol went way up. I have been eating so much crap pretending I can just restart easy . Ha Well I’m not kidding myself I need help and to pay the price $$$. I just rejoined and started Today.
by (3.7k points)
@depose yup we are just alike just got my blood work back and the same thing. I have high cholesterol. And I to thought it would be so easy. So here I am again saying I’m going to start on Monday. If i can get though the first 5 days I know I will be fine. But getting though them first few days is so hard
by (500 points)
@symposiarch/activity" class="qa-user-link">symposiarch Sheehan I know and totally understand but for me I need to stop this before I gain it all back. Plus I felt the best ever when I was thinner. @symposiarch/activity" class="qa-user-link">symposiarch you picked your start date, get out your food journal, shop for your foods. Your ready to completely commit. Let me know how your doing. Good luck.

Maybe a different coach. I don't coach all my clients the same way. I am able to figure out what they need right off the bat. I even had a client I would see twice a week because that's what she needed. Try to get through one week. Motivate the mind and the body will follow. Good luck.
by (510 points)
@salzman Does your clinic only have 1 coach? Where do you live?

It’s time to get off the sugar and flour merry go round Sugar is hidden in everything There are about 100 Alias names for sugar you have to be a ninja to overcome it . Pantries are obsolete. Unless you have canned meat in there

Yes! I find that the first week for me is hard because I’m not really “in ketosis” so a slice of pizza and I’ll re start tomorrow. a handful of cheese it’s at night and I’ll restart tomorrow. and then I just fall off. I’m finally going on week three and I’m already down 12lbs. This is only the second time I’ve done the program following through past week one. I fell off at 12 weeks two years ago and the weight actually stayed off until I was eating fast food 4 nights a week and not taking time to exercise.
