Keto diets are high fat, with a moderate amount of protein, and very few carbohydrates. The ideal protein diet consists of low fat, low carb foods, and a protein intake optimized to each individual, based on an assessment with a specialist. . This is vastly different than a high-calorie, high-fat keto meal. The above is from google^^ Ideal protein is like keto on steroids lol that's how I describe it.

I'm thinking it would maybe be modified for people who have more physical jobs, have more or less weight to lose, or have a medical condition

I thought it was a form of a keto diet since it puts you into ketosis? (Lower in fat than traditional keto)

Ketosis is a metabolic state, not a diet. Yes, following the Ideal Protein weight loss protocol will put your body into a state of nutritional ketosis.

Yes that’s what I’m saying. So a keto diet is a diet that puts you into ketosis, so this is one form of a keto diet.

@markup A keto diet is one kind of diet that puts you into ketosis. IP is another kind of a diet that puts you into ketosis.

No, ideal protein is way more strict. Both diets put you into ketosis but ideal protein is a high protein diet where as keto is high fat. The only fat we have on IP is 2 teaspoons of oil per day.

@teletypesetter ketosis is the process of burning fat. Therefore both are a keto diet as both burn fat.

Since you asked & I’ve always been interested in biology & nutrition, I started searching. This medical news article says it is a form of a keto diet (although not typical) & gives some good info on what it does medically. (Click within the first article to get more info) the

Actually, Ideal Protein is a ketogenic diet. There are many versions of the popular "keto" diet. Most of them have high fat intake, low carb, and some are low in protein. Ketogenic means "fat burning". When following Ideal Protein, instead of burning the fat you eat, you burn the fat you've stored. Coaching, accountability and the high quality muscle sparing proprietary meal replacements are the hallmark of the Ideal Protein method.

Ketosis is the burning of fat. There are two types of keto diets. Low fat, low carb such as IP and high fat, low carb. Both burn fat so both are keto. However, most people think keto means the extreme fat intake as that is what the dietary industry advertises and is the current bandwagon to jump on, though medically speaking is the lowest healthiest diet as per docs. And what @soapbark said.

No. Keto diet is different though the principle of creating a fat burning state in the body is the same but the method used in Ideal Protein is different and more logical. Yours in health awareness, Dr. Sandeep Jassal, LiveLifeMore. com
