What is a coach supposed to do? Mine sells me food- pretty much it. Im thinking of trying to go alternative route since the food seems expensive and isnt that great to begin with. curious what other people’s coaches provide that makes it worthwhile. I asked to be measured after months of not being measured and she gave me a tape measure.
What is a coach supposed to do?

Weigh, measure, check food journal, advise you on any mistakes you might be making, offer resources, manage your set-up for emails and daily videos.

My coach does weekly weigh in, measures, helps me succeed by keeping me accountable, giving recipes, and is available for questions via messenger 24/7.

In 2016 my coach at silver lake, everett clinic, didnt hold back, if I didnt have a drastic change she red me the riot act, put me on the scale, measured me and then tore me apart, I lost all my weight and a couple extra lbs. In the last almost 4 years, I have gained a bit back and went to two different clinics that didnt get on my back and I was unsuccessful, next week I start with lake Steven's, Wa. I am assured I am being set up with a stern coach, that makes all the difference, so I am excited to start

Don't see how people can afford this for long. so expensive.
by (3.8k points)
@boles not really. If the weight was put on by eating fast foods and pre-processed foods, then the IP costs are far cheaper than daily McDonalds and Starbucks visits. I won't even get into the cost of health care and prescriptions. I am saving money!

Thats great. makes sense if you eat out every day.

I’ve had 2 coaches last year. Now the 3rd has emailed & called. loved my first coach, the second made me feel like a failure, loosing 2-3 lbs a week instead of more. I do a very sedentary job, I sew long hours everyday. Physical activity is minimal during wedding season. I didn’t feel I was due the attitude I received from her. I lost 70bs from March- November. Anyhow, I took myself off the weekly weigh ins, and have been doing the IP alternative program. I’ve not been following program tightly, haven’t gained any, but haven’t lost much else either. I’m going to start rigid protocol starting Monday though.

Ur coach is a lemon. My coach is amazing! She talks to me about how I am feeling, how my food intake is going, if I have any questions, problems, concerns is always discussed. I get weighed, measurements r done at every meeting. She texts me back any time I text with questions & forever tells me if I need anything just let her know! Even when I had surgery she offered to bring my products to me if I could not get out. I would report that coach of urs to IP. She obviously is not a coach. Giving me a tape measure to measure myself? I would have handed it back & said thats UR JOB

My coach basically weighed, measured, and sold me food. It was good for accountability and that was it for me. When I got within 5 pounds of my goal weight she told me to buy IP meal replacements and start maintenance with no guidance on how to do that. I joined the Facebook IP Alternatives page and never looked back. I've maintained for 4 years now on my own with the help of that group. I jump back on phase 1 when I get to 10 pounds over goal and just order the same type food as IP from Amazon or buy it at Walmart for a lot less.

My coaches are amazing at Ideal You! They measure, weigh and answer any questions and go over anything I need. They run the “tape” once a month and I just think they are amazing!

@doublecheck @martletber Smith & @abraham are AMAZING at RiverNorth in Stephenville Tx. It’s not just about them selling food. There should be weekly guidance & encouragement.

My coach is like visiting a very close friend! She asks me how I'm doing. She makes suggestions for what I can eat when I'm hungry. She suggests recipes and how I can use Walden Farms items to enhance food & flavor, makes suggestions how to negotiate eating on trips or when we have company. At the very end she weighs & measures me every week & then rings up my purchases of the foods I select. If I ask how she liked some different food type I may be debating on purchasing, she's very honest about the taste or how she made it work & encourages me to just try one pack before buying a whole box. She answers any questions I may text during the week & she's so positive and fun to visit! I can't wait to see her! I prefer a soft touch, someone who encourages and supports me. I'm hard enough on myself! She's helping me to recognize my change in thought processes, like enjoying a choice or selecting an indulgence, not 'cheating' and then getting right back on the program. I hope you find someone who truly supports you!

You need to report this person. I had a ‘coach’ that asked me to drive her to subway and the liquor store. Would eat fast food in another room. Asked me to drive her to other clients to drop food off. Because she didn’t have enough product, she asked me to give up a box I had in my basket to another person! I eventually changed and I reported her but can’t recall to who.

Change coaches and report them. They should be weighing, measuring, reviewing journal, talking to you if u had challenges or hurdles or just need to get something out and selling food. If ur not getting that weekly I would move to another clinic.

I am so sorry for you. As a coach, if all I did was sell food I probably wouldn’t do it. Love helping my clients along their journey and getting to know them.

A coach should do more educating, look at food journal, weight, measurements and help you plan for the week and obstacles. We also address triggers and how to overcome them. We encourage and support.

You need to report your coach to corporate and find a new coach ASAP. that is not the kind of coach they expect to have representing them and the program. They should be supportive, not just sell you food, but provide you guidance, weigh in, measurements etc. they should be a source of encouragement. Help with stalls, offer recommendations on menus, review your journal. There are good ones out there!
The Ideal Protein Protocol Group is where you can always find questions, answers, advice, reviews & recommendations from other community members about recipes, tips, and support for Phase 1 of the Ideal Protein Protocol.
