So I had my very first cheat since March 17th start, yesterday at Burger King. I ordered a whopper with no bun and heavy on the veggies, no sauce. But I added a small fries as a treat and decided I didn’t care if I got kicked out of ketosis because 9 weeks is a long time to go without a single cheat lol. Weighed this morning and I’m down 2. 6 lbs! Has anyone noticed if the occasional cheat might kickstart weight loss? I’m a rule follower but I’ve reached my original goal so didn’t mind the fries, but I’m still interested in losing more weight lol

So my personal experience tells me, you have a cheat, feel awful about it, but you don't gain anything! Or you lose weight! It makes the next cheat easier. It won't hurt me! And the next. And before you know it, you've gained 10lbs. This is not something to be encouraged, it can be a slippery slope. Like a commenter above, a different kind of cheat like an occasionally higher intake of protein, or something higher in fat, can fuel weight loss -- and this is something you and your coach should discuss. But the science of eliminating bad carbs during the weight loss phase is just that -- science. It will work best for you in the long term.

Just FYI what you ate yesterday you should see on the scale tomorrow And IA little fry like that shouldn't really hurt you with that said you're doing a good job keep up the great work

@bidwell I was going to say the same thing. On any previous diet whenever I’ve had a cheat the weight shows up the second day, not the day after.

@pageantry true me also

@bidwell yes. I decided to eat a few sushi rolls with my kids one month and saw the weight increase within a couple days.

@ion but you get back on protocol you will losse it

@bidwell oh I sure did

Not my experience but maybe your body responds differently to fried highly processed toxic “food”. I have been coached to up my protein on occasion to move the scale after doing all the legit protocol things. Good luck to you

There was another post regarding a coach suggesting this for a person was stalked- I did comment and say that I did this for a few Friday nights in a row (somewhat cheat dinners) never going wayyyy overboard- and it did kick back my weight loss. IT IS NOT FOR EVERYONE and not recommended! Congrats on your success!

You may not see it right away, may show on the scale next week or the week after. What you should be working on is mindset. Do you want to feed your body for health or just to lose weight? Being skinny on the outside does not necessarily mean healthy on the inside if not eating proper nutrition now or in the future.

I haven't cheated. Yet. Lol, but we are only human! If it didn't totally derail your whole mindset then you are just fine. Because really it is all about the mindset. Even "skinny" people eat "bad food" occasionally. And from past experience, for myself anyway, a small cheat like that never showed up on the scale a few days or a week later and it comes right back off if it did show up just by hopping right back on the healthy wagon

I personally see nothing wrong with the occasional cheat if that cheat food has been on your mind to point it’s almost causing stress. Mental health is extremely important too in the weight loss process. However, after the cheat ya can’t beat yourself up about it, it is what it is and move on. ‍♀️ You do you girl, what’s best for your body and mind. I’ve had an occasional cheat it’s what works for me and my health, in all areas.

Careful - it’s a slippery slope. You got lucky this time. Don’t let the fact that it worked out for you so we’ll get in your head and throw you off track!

Its hard to truly say cuz our bodies r all different. Whopper burgers r far from lean. Just be cautious. When I cheated it was xtra protein lol. Stayed the course for a solid year lost 118lbs. What I can say is the weight comes back on quick. Best of luck to u. U can do this

I definitely think it can restart your burn when you have a rare cheat & have stalled.

Sometimes, for me, the cheat doesn’t catch up for a day or two.

100%. Sometimes the calories are a little too low depending on what your preferences are (white fish instead of red meat, kale instead of cauliflower). That can actually stall weight loss, and sometimes a little added calories can boost your metabolism. However if you’re going to stay on plan do it next time just by eating more, choosing more calorie dense meat and veggies, and even adding a couple extra packets! To me it’s not worth having to get back into ketosis. But definitely no harm done especially given this insane pandemic- you got this!

We decided that if we were going to do a “cheat” burger, it wasn’t gonna be from a fast food joint. Too many ‘mom & pop’ Main Street Bistro’s with great burgers!

If I cheat it's day 2 after it shows.

Around the 5-6 week mark my body usually stalls. Sometimes I plan going off diet for a day ( or meal) and then get right back on. I usually have a big drop after that.
