I do a lot . kickboxing, boxing, les mills grit and body pump, HIIT spin . you name it. I take BCAA’s and an extra shake if needed. My weight loss is slower than most but my body fat has decreased at a high rate. I’m ok with slow . I’m about 5 pounds from goal . down 60 overall (some without IP) . my coach knows I train hard and monitors my numbers and I’m very vocal with how I feel etc. she’s ok with it

@everett . the first time I did IP I was on for about 3 months . I was down 50 pounds on my own (through healthy diet and exercise only) and went on IP to lose the last 20 pounds . gained back the 20 over the past 1-2 years so went back on IP December 31st . I’m down 22 pounds since then and 7% body fat . I started my weight loss journey at 210 pounds . I’m 148 now and my goal is 143

I do a gentle water exercise class at my Y (prescribed by my orthro surgeon as knee replacement therapy & my coach approved). I’ll eat 1/2 portion of IP muffins before, the other 1/2 after class & take a bottle of water to have during class.

I worked up to 30 minutes of yoga and walk about 2 miles at least 5 days a week. You should wait until you've been on the program at least 3 weeks and then slowly add exercise.

I lost 187 pounds working out 2-3 times per week, light weights and cardio. I also added walking and am up to 8000 steps per day in Phase 2.

I do HIIT 3x a week and lift 2x a week. Two rest days. I always do 1-2 BCAA’s on hard workout days.

Weightlifting and stretching. I lift pretty heavy and for about an hour, but I do not get my heart rate up. I've found even light cardio increases my appetite too much

We don’t know all the facts about you so it is hard to give advice. You are only eating 800 calories so you might be weak at first. Start out with lighter weights and you might not be able to do as many sets. So take it easy at first. If dizzy you need salt. Listen to your body.

I walk. Not for miles, not at a fast pace but briskly. I feel better when I do.

Your body can’t be catabolic (burning fat) and (anabolic) building muscle at the same time. People think if they start protocol and exercise they will lose quicker. This is not true, if you do lose more it’s at the expense of your lean muscle mass. Remember muscle is the engine that burns calories. Dr Douglis did a talk on exercise for IP and recommends keeping the exercise you are doing around 3 MET levels. Just google, what is the MET level of? (Whatever you are doing) and the best exercises for you to do on protocol are at 3 MET level and under. I started my 9th year as a CEM with IP in December. Not that it matters, people are going to do what they are going to do, all you can try to do is help them lose safely and educate them. There’s plenty of time to do it in maintenance.

I do CycleBar 3-4 times a week. I drink BCAA’s on those days. I was doing this before I started IP and I didn’t want to give it up, so far losing just fine.

What is BCAA
by (14.8k points)
@rett1366 , branched chain amino acids . they help the body boost muscle growth and enhance workout performance. It’s important to build lean muscle

If you were active or not before IP you can start or continue walking, swimming, skiing, skating, lifting light weights, yoga , dance. whatever you like so long as you "don't increase your heart rate to where you can't comfortably carry on a conversation. " So don't get short of breath. Branch Amino Acids and extra water help after your activity of choice.

I’m 6 months in, 92lbs down. I’m still on P1. I just started two weeks ago. I try to go every other day. I do 20min on the bike, fat burn setting. Then the 30 min cycle. Then I do the machine that hopefully gets rid of my chin rub and saddle bags
