The 4 hour one is correct but you only have to wait 1/2 to 1 hr, with 1 hour being better, for coffee, food, etc. I have been on Synthroid for years.

Yes that's great spacing. Also just plain water with synthroid. Its measured on a microgram basis and anything will affect its absorption.

@oxblood yes. no coffee for an hour in the morning was a hard habit to break!

Yes understood. Thyroid affects so much in body, mood, weight, temperature, etc. It's enough trying to find the right dose that works only to be altered by a dietary switch. Well this program is about flexibility and maximizing food and getting benefits. Way to go!

@questionless195 You’re supposed to take it first thing in the morning when you get up. I have it on my night stand and take it before I even get out of bed.

@masseur I do too but my sleeping is all over the place sometimes up at 9 , 10, 11

@questionless195 Me too. I actually was just getting up when I wrote that. I go to bed between 3 and 4 am every night.

@questionless195 I’m retired. I’ve been doing this for years. Before retiring, I still went to bed between 2 to 3 am, getting about 4 hours sleep each night. Now I try to get 6.

I have been on synthroid most of my life. I used to worry about the timing of it even before this diet— as they tell you to. As long as you take it regularly it does not matter .
by (3.2k points)
I take mine all together in the am.
by (17.5k points)
@hah7 It does matter and you’re not supposed to take it with other medications. It’s in the instruction sheet you get with your scripts that none of us read.

I take synthroid 30 minutes before my other medication and vitamins. My thyroid levels are normal.

Yeah, I take it first with as much water as I can chug. Take the dog out, feed dog and cats, shower then take my next pill and eat. It gives me about an hour. Trying to gulp down as much water, every time I walk past my glass. Thyroid sucks. When it wasn’t regulated, I gained weight. Now that it is regulated with correct dose, I’ve lost 140lbs on IP, had blood work done twice in the last year, and doctor still won’t lower my dose.

I take my thyroid medicine before bed. At least two hours after dinner. Ok’d by my doctor. I am a coffee drinker and could not get a good morning routine. 5 am is too early for me. Good luck!
