Anyone have advice who has restarted after being in maintenance for a long time? I restarted this week after 1 year to lose 20 lbs. my body slips into ketosis easily (I have keto days in maintenance too), yet first week and barely lost 3 lbs of water. Followed protocol and tracked macros.

That just means you had less fluid build-up. I do keto for maintenance. When I have gone low carb from high carb I’ve lost up to 11 pounds in week 1 and 15-20 total in 1st 2 weeks but to a reboot from keto it was only 2. 5 lbs in week 1. So, I realized then, ok, so what’s creeped up is truly fat not water weight gain so I knew to expect about 2 lbs a week and that’s exactly what is happening as I’m in week 7. And, it’s really only this week that I feel a difference in clothes I’m wearing.

@waterside BINGO ! There’s no way your glycogen stores/inflammation are the same now (doing the program) VS when you did it the first time ! You mentioned you only lost 3 lbs but my guess is the majority of it was fat as eating healthy will allow you to slip into ketosis quite fast

I’ve been eating the sheet my second round after 5 months being off it and in 2 month lost 10. it seems harder to loose now. Stay with it !

@sharlasharleen definitely harder to lose and slower! I agree! Stick with it!

It’s unclear if 20 pounds is the same amount you lost initially. If not, and it was more your first time, this is how I think about it. For me, the last 10 pounds took a very, long time to lose. It’s because your body doesn’t have much to give up, so the pace of loss is slower. Therefore, if you had lost a lot, and then put only 20 back on and now want to lose that, it will be slower. To help my mind set, I look at my logs and find the pace it took me to lose that last 20 or 10 pounds. Of course, I was a slow loser the whole time (other than the first week). Stick with it. 3 pounds in a week is good.

If you eat less carbs in general, you probably won't be holding as much water weight. That's good. The first week is water weight, it's the burning of fat that matters now!

Thanks all. Are y’all following the new or old protocol second time? If new, is it faster?
