I did the program for about a month then decided I wanted real food —as opposed to the packet stuff— so I moved to keto. Cost of the IP wasn’t an issue b/c we own the place and I was just grabbing stuff out of the closet anyway. Sorry, I digressed, for the last year and a half I’ve been doing this: keto for 7 weeks, eat whatever the hell I want for 2 weeks. Repeat. It works for me. I no longer get the Keto flu when I do this.

@sulphide you are an owner of an IP clinic?
by (7k points)
@ruthy6 I am. Doesn’t mean I’m a coach. Just an owner.

@sulphide In an average month how much weight are you losing?
by (7k points)
@plectrum99 I’m on maintenance now. I lost my 20 pounds and stay within 5 pounds of this. (180 down to 160). I hit my goal over a year ago.

A cheat kicks you out of ketosis, which is the reason you're dropping weight quickly. and paying a bunch of money for. so a cheat equals 4 days wasted money to get back to ketosis. not worth it

It might be more than 4 days. This is a great program. Stick with it.

I have. For me, it actually helped me. I was at a standstill and having that one cheat day somehow kicked my body back into gear. I’ve heard that in the phase 2, you have 1 cheat day. But like mentioned above, definitely better to stick with it. I know everyone’s body’s are different.

I give myself rewards once a week which works for me. And before everyone starts freaking out at me again about being kicked out of keytosis, yes I know. This is my third time around and I figured out what works for me. It's been 3 weeks and I lost 10lbs. Slow moving but for me it works. Find what works for YOU and don't let anyone tell you otherwise. Your weight loss journey is your own and enjoy it! We're always so hard on ourselves if we slip up. We're human, it happens. Every day is a new day. Good luck girl! I hope you find what works for you!

Try the alternate Ideal Protein Plan. you add a choice from 3 groups that really is satisfying. main IDP i lost 5lbs a week. IDP Alternate i lost 3lbs a week. Ask your coach or find online the sheet of what you can have. The fruit, yogurt, sweet potato saved me from burn out.

@driver20888 I did alternative as well lost 30# in about 3 months. Never go into ketosis but it's so much easier to maintain

Not worth it, I felt so sick when I cheated & ate high carb foods.

What’s worked for me is this mantra- “it’s a choice, not a cheat”. Occasionally I CHOOSE to have ONE off protocol food in a very small portion. Definitively NOT a full day of bad choices or “cheats”. I’ve stayed on track and have lost 40#. You can do this!

It’s not worth a day to cheat. Puts your system out of ketosis. Makes you feel yucky. It’s a all or nothing commitment. Very worth the results by following protocol. Everyone looses at a different pace, but you loose steadily by following protocol.

Yes! My family went to London on spring break during phase 1 and my husband and I followed three rules off the program. First rule was to have protein at each meal. Second was to not snack and only have three meals per day. Third was only eat until you are full. Went back on the program when we got back! Didn’t lose that week but didn’t gain!

Cheat for a meal and NOT for a day - if you must

I cheated once, gained weight and felt so defeated. My advice, don't cheat! It'll only make things harder.

The problem I have with cheating is going in the next week and not having any weight loss or minimal weight loss. Having to explain to my coach why I decided to cheat is always so humiliating for me. Cheating not only interrupts my weight loss but it disturbs my mental health as well. Good luck on whatever you decide to do. Stay strong and eat the sheet is my advice.

Cheat days cost too much! There is nothing I could eat (cheat) that is worth the cost of not losing for 2 weeks total money down the drain $90-$180! Thats what keeps me on track. I ask my self is it worth the cost?

No cheating for me. I didn’t choose to do this change in my life to simply go back to old habits. I want to live long and healthy and this is my time to learn it and live it.

NO! Don’t do it. It is not worth it. I had to tell myself I had been cheating my health long enough and it was time to make it right.

What ever you decide is best for you. My poor opinion is that ask your self why you start on this program? Two it’s not good for your body to go in and out of ketosis ( ask your Doctor) specially if you’re a female it’s worse for us do to our hormones, three it’s to expensive and can take you up to 2 weeks to get back on ketosis. To me it’s not worthy. I always have my favorite food from IP any flavor of wafers always get me out of those situations specially at work as they always have junk food.

This is just MY experience- I ate what I wanted on Thanksgiving and Christmas, but I didn’t go totally off the rails those days. Initially, I gained but ended up having big losses afterwards. Because mainly i got right back on track. I think it helped mix things up. similar to carb cycling (also used for weight loss). I used to be able to have bites of stuff here and there with no problem, but now that I’m down to the last 6 lbs to lose to goal I do not deviate much, if at all. I’ve had some slip ups and I’m not perfect, but I am also not obsessive over my diet/weight loss. This is my new lifestyle.

My cheat days like Thanksgiving and Christmas are still low carb, just higher fat. Then at least I don’t go out of ketosis.

Please don't do it. Because you will come out of keto phase. Then you will be at the start point again. It takes time to get back into keto . lt makes you frustrated and tired because you will not lose weight as you supposed to. It is not worth it.
