Fajita with all the trimmings but no tortillas. Take your own lettuce  leaves of any kind if you have to or ask in restaurant if not a hassle

Ceviche (fish marinated in lime juice) with pico de gallo. Tell them you don’t want any chips or crackers with it.

I know that everyone is trying to be helpful with their advice and means well. However, I can find reasons why virtually every suggestion here is off protocol. The best way to stay on protocol is have something to eat that is in line with this program at home before you go out to the restaurant. When you get to the restaurant, If you feel that you must eat, order something that you 100% know is protocol such as a salad where you tell them exactly with to put on like lettuce, tomatoes, cukes, celery and a little raw onion. Use a teaspoon of Olive oil and put some salt and pepper on top. Maybe they have steamed broccoli and you can get a side of that plain and put salt and pepper on it as well. But if you get fajitas, ceviche, etc. they very well may use some type of fat to cook it in or season it or marinade it with something that you don't know or injected with sugar water or a million other things that you are not sure of because you did not prepare it. I used to own 2 mexican restaurants. Our raw chicken breast was injected with oil and sugar water to make it taste better and cook faster. People would see a raw chicken breast being put on the grill which was right out in the open and think that all they were getting was a chicken breast. They were not. You don't want to be surprised with them adding cheese somewhere or fat somewhere or cooking the onion or cooking something in some type of animal fat. You just don't know unless you're getting raw vegetables or something that is just steamed. You do not want a set back and wonder for the next week how it is affecting the hard work that you've already put in. People will understand. Just make it so you're not hungry when you get there and explained that All you want is a salad and some stesmed veggies or whatever you are ordering. In my time with ideal protein there have been literally hundreds of times where I could have said that I should do this or I should do that because of a situation I was in and every time I did not it worked out fine and I was happier on the scale for doing so. I feel that it made me stronger. That said, I'm sure that everyone this group supports you regardless of what happens. Best wishes.

@masquer can you have the salad, etc. And eat at home afterwards?
by (5.1k points)
@thurber774 that is a good point on the fajitas. Damn it, it’s always something. Lol

@kiddy2760 sure is. I spent 30 years rationalizing and making excuses and reasons On my way to 300 pounds. I'm not going back there anymore and I don't care who is offended by the things that I do to better my own life. None of which affects their's.

@dakar 'zacly by point. I truly want everyone in this group to succeed at the highest level possible and I share my personal ideas that I think will lead to that end. It seems we all mean well and that is what I appreciate most. None of us can always be correct in our ideas. However, we can always be correct in our intention. And THAT, my friends, is the definition of 'support'.

I usually opt for fajitas without tortillas. Some places will give you leaf lettuce to use in place of tortillas.

I am in Texas and eat Mexican food regularly. When we go now, I’ll order one of several things: a large bowl of their chicken tortilla soup without anything in it except the chicken and the broth; a plain salad with either grilled chicken or taco meat and then use salsa instead of salad dressing; or fajita meat with veggies. This works for me.
