Ugh you guys.  I started for the first time, lasted 10 days lost 10 pounds and then just ate A&W?!Ugh you guys. I started for the first time, lasted 10 days lost 10 pounds and then just ate A&W?! Like whhhhy? It was working! Why do I do this to myself. And ever since then I can't stick to it. The food isn't what's hard. It's the mental aspect. It's a mind game and my mind/willpower is not strong enough. How do you guys keep focused? Like I think I'm seriously addicted to carbs.

I'm 48 and a medical professional. I have 10hr shifts on my feet . I'm overweight and my knees hurt. I have arthritis. If I'm going to last and not be disabled or lose my career, I must lose weight to be healthy. I'm fighting for my life. It hurts to be overweight. Now vanity is 2and. I dont want cheesy thighs. I want to look good and feel good. I want my confidence. I'm fighting for my life. 5 yrs ago I was 220 my lowest on different program and engaged. I'm 40lbs over and not engaged. That other food does not serve me. I'm fighting for my livelihood.

We have to be determined to succeed unfortunately if we are not 100% determined and committed, we will always find excuses to "cheat". and I know I have "restarted" many time. now on day 13 and going strong with 15 lbs lost. you've got it!

Are you sure your not afraid to be skinny? Are you sabotaging yourself on purpose. think about why you eat not what you eat. I love carbs too but nothing tastes as good as the skinny feels.

@resignation definitely not scared to be skinny haha, I was at one point before medication and life took over.

You are addicted to carbs. Its definitely a mind game that's very difficult. Its a strict diet that's what makes it so hard BUT it works. Ive gained all my weight back from answering all my cravings. Its a constant battle. When I'm good at it I just focus on why and that seems to help and walk away from whatever you are thinking of eating do something else in eat a unrestricted got to be better than what you are wanting.

I advise you to see a counselor/psychologist to get at the root cause. Cheating begats more cheating.

Yes, addicted to carbs. I find, however, that once I'm on plan for awhile, the cravings decrease. I also realize that this is an expensive plan and that I'm throwing away money if I cheat. Yes, it's also mind over matter. Decide to do it and do it. Drink water when cravings hit, eat pickles, eat unlimited veggies, or give yourself a Mani/pedi, take up a hobby, read. You can do it if you want. Tell yourself you can and leave "can't" out of it. Good luck.

This may help someone. it was my husbands suggestion and lately it has been helping me. I opened an album on my phone photos I called it Changes. I have pictures of my self over the years. I am now in my seventies but if I am feeling vulnerable and thinking of eating something I know i will regret, I look through the pictues. some of heavy pictures some I am smaller some I am older some younger some happy some sad but as I go through them recently I think I want to feel that way again and this has helped me. I hope it can help someone else.

Hang in there. Failure isn't blowing the plan. Failure is not picking yourself back up & starting again however many times you need to do it.

Ideal Protein has plenty of "carb-like" opinions. For me it was about getting creative with their food. Get excited about what your eating! I find myself always looking forward to my next meal or snack. There are many Instagram pages as well that offer meal ideas. Example: if you were craving a burger, you totally could have one in a lettuce wrap, or with portobello mushrooms as the bread. There's even a big Mac in a bowl recipe which actually tastes like a big Mac lol. There are soooo many options to hit the cravings you are having. Also, drink water. Most of the time that will cut the craving or urge to eat when we are not hungry.

Okay- you are not alone. It takes a force of nature to get your mind on lockdown. I finally was able to do it by seeing a photo posted here if someone’s before tummy and then 73 days after tummy. I told myself- lock it down for 73 days! I gave myself a GIFT of NOT A&W but 73 days!

I am addicted to food. For as long I can remember food was what made me feel better. It was the go to. My family did not help that of course (not blaming) food was a reward, a sympathizer or whatever it needed to be at the time. I have failed at this diet more times than I care to admit. I had to find a replacement for food in my life. So I exercise, walk, journal and stay out of the kitchen as much as possible. This is the longest I have been on the diet (3 months) I lose 3 pounds a week. The diet got much easier after the 2nd month. I eat food to exist not for anything else. I hope that will change some day. Food addiction is a real thing and the hardest to overcome. You can't quit eating so the temptation is always there.
