How can one even eat 1000 calories on this diet, particularly now the protein has been reduced to 4-6 oz? Most IP foods are b/w 80-150 calories so (so 240 to 450 a day), 6 oz of raw meat: -chicken 175 calories, -beef -247 calories, -fish (311 for salmon/204 for Chilean Sea Bass/ 139 for cod/181 shrimps/118 scallops) -4 cups Vegetables (cauliflower 108/zucchini 75) -2 teaspoons extra virgin olive oil -40 calories. I bump mine to one tablespoon just to get in more calories. I’ve never reached 1000. I’m hard pushed to get to 800. I’m not hungry but I hope that’s not too low.

If you are seeing a coach, please ask them to explain this whole process to you. If you dont have a coach, please get one. First, Ideal Protein is medically and scientifically developed WEIGHT LOSS protocol. No one is starving and there is a beginning and an end to phase 1-weight loss. Second, each individual is coached according to their needs. Please don't assume your coach doesn't know what they are doing because someone tells you what their coach said. Yes, the protocol should be followed as it is set unless your circumstances require tweaking of protocol. Calories taken in are not the only calories your body is consuming. When you follow the protocol you are in a state of nutritional ketosis-your body is consuming calories from the fat it is burning.

According to my coach, it is not too low because you are using your own fat to fuel yourself (meaning you do not need more calories).

When I did this diet two years ago my Fitnesspal app showed me eating 680-800 calories most days.

I asked my coach this today and she told me that IP doesnt count calories at all and they dont matter, as I am way in a caloric minus by well over 2000 lol. I am on the ALT phase 1 and I eat around just over 1000 and thats INC the three group choices. so more carbs as I am a insulin dependant diabetic and fairly active

You don’t have to follow the new protocol. My coach doesn’t recommend it. It’s too low in animal protein for a middle age large frame woman such as myself. I will lose muscle mass. I often even eat more then the 8 ounces and I lose pounds and inches perfectly. Do what is best for you.

Dont worry, it's old news you have to have 1000 calories. People are even doing intermittent fasting.

I still eat my 8oz of protein. no way im eating less. I look at it this way. if I did fine and lost weekly when it was still 8oz. i will continue to eat that much rather than the 4 to 6!

Think about this, I'm 62 and I knew people who were born in the early 1900s. Most people during those days usually grew up being very thin. As they grew into adulthood it did not ruin their metabolism to be quite slender. Also, studies have found lower calories of good food -equals longer life! Don't worry IP is healthy! Much healthier than the junk most of us Have been eating!

Don't forget to add in your oil calories. Most are eating between 700-950 depending on food choices.

If you are adding your oil, you’ll get to 1000.
