I started at 200, have lost 30 pounds. My same clothes basically fit and none one comments I’ve lost any weight ☹️. I know I have a way to go, but did this happen to anyone else?

I read somewhere that you will notice at 20 pounds but others won’t begin to notice until around 30 pounds. It won’t be long before others will notice and your clothes will definitely be “falling off “ of you!

I started at 246 and I’m now at 202. No one has noticed. My clothes feel the same. Today my daughter actually asked why I haven’t lost any weight on my diet. She’s only 10 so pulls no punches. Her twin said I’m not fat but “special” and “unique” LOL. Realistically I know 200 pounds is still very overweight so I am more determined than ever to shift the weight so I am am a good role model for them.
by (2.4k points)
Good for you! And 200 pounds is very overweight. Just wondering, thanks. That daughter!
by (2.6k points)
Are you wearing the same clothes? People generally notice when you put on something that fits.
by (2.4k points)
Well, now that we’re quarantined! I wear the same clothes over and over. I NEVER did that in my former life!
by (5.7k points)
@inadvertence yes, I’m wearing the same clothes. I don’t need new ones because my old ones still fit LOL and do not look big.
by (2.6k points)
Don't they. or is it your mental image? When you can get out again. try on the next size or two down. I bet you will be surprised.
by (5.7k points)
@inadvertence I really don’t think so but I may be wrong. I may have stretched them beyond their natural size when I was bigger and now they just fit as they should? ‍♀️ I have so long to go that I’m not that focused on clothes much. I just want this weight off LOL!
by (17k points)
When you get to -50. and skinny clothes. they will say something. its barely noticeable at-20 or 30. I like too change my hair for the wow. We will have a coming out party after this quarantine. haha.
by (1.5k points)
Most clothes have some elastic/polyester that have a bit of stretch to them. Hopefully, soon you can get some measurements to reassure yourself that you are losing.
by (800 points)
@irmairme I like this. Yes we will have a coming out party after quarantine, everyone’s going to be like  wow who are you
by (17k points)
@instruct yup we can either be the ones who gained weight stress eating or the ones who lost weight stress eating. compliments to those who hung in there. i faltered a bit but back on the wagon.

Yes. Have you tried a before and after picture? Usually it takes your own eyes to see it first. Be confident. I've gained 3lbs, being 2 weeks off plan. Stress eating.
by (970 points)
@pointer82 Me too! The house is full of food because we are under orders to shelter in place etc. The last two weeks have been really difficult, but I started back yesterday, and staying on programme makes me feel better and a little more in control.

Yep. 25 lbs down. Clothes are looser but not down a size yet. No one has said a word.

Sorry, but it just makes me feel not alone. I can hardly wait until the next 30!

It took awhile a no one seemed to notice, then all of a sudden there was a big shift. I think you have to hit a certain % of loss more than actual pounds
by (2.4k points)
@chrischrism53637, good, it’ll be coming

No one mentioned my 30 lb loss. I did notice my clothes fitting looser and better.
by (2.4k points)
@duvetyn982 Cochran, I do feel that. No wonder the weight crept on, I could still wear the same darn clothes, so I didn’t feel as “chubby” as I was getting.

I went from 185 to 120. It wasn’t until I lost 35 - 40 pounds before anyone noticed.

@chrischrism53637 Phipps Shell, thanks, that is what I was wondering

It’s cause we are not seeing anyone new. Due to being quarantined only the same people see us. When they see us every day they don’t notice the loss.

I think that people are afraid to comment weight can be a very sensitive and personal matter
by (19.2k points)
@vaticination Yes, my Mom who has never really had a big weight problem always says dont mention it if someone loses weight. She thinks of it as offensive. She doesnt understand.

If it is the people who see you everyday, there is a good chance they haven’t really noticed because they see you everyday. Were your clothes tight before you started? If so, that is why they still fit. Take photos for yourself. Take them every two weeks. If you can, hold up a piece of paper with the date, so that you can easily see when it is from. Put them in a folder. look at them. This will help you see the changes. Congrats on the weight loss!

Yes! I think this all the time. I mean the clothes are baggy but still fit for the most part. Hang in there. put pics side by side you will see the difference.

Time to buy some new Clothes!  Great Job! You are so much healthier!  Some of it may have to do with how you're built. You may carry your weight well when you are heavier, but like I said, now your healthier!

I started up over 300 and I feel like no one noticed till I was about 5 months in and down like 40 or 50 lbs. then . all of a sudden boom everyone noticed I’m down over 150 now and the funny thing is it now is more uncomfortable that people don’t stop talking about it. I mean it was nice in the beginning but now I’m like let’s move on this is just how I am now. The clothing thing is weird I didn’t go down size wise dramatically until I got pretty far down and also did a lot of exercising.

Yes! Even when I lost a substantial amount no one commented. It's best to let people know what your up to and hopefully they are supportive enough to comment often to help boost your self esteem! That's what I did and every time I saw my mom she told me how good I looked lol

@duvetyn982 that is fantastic I started just under 200 and I'm now in my 150's. I have had many ups and downs. Slow weeks then a loss back and forth. Keep going and although we focus most on the scale concentrate on how you feel, the inches you have lost and the weight loss. Take all of that not just the one aspect. I have been on the program 6 months. Congrats on your 30lbs you no longer carry!
by (2.4k points)
@workingwoman13, thank you, I just needed a little reassurance

@duvetyn982 you'll do fine just keep going.  have a good day and the rest of the week.

Same. I started at 207 and once I got to the low 180s people really started to notice. Keep it up! Sometimes your weight has to just redistribute. Also sometimes just wearing smaller clothes actually does make and a difference. My clothes were baggy (but not that baggy) but once I wore smaller clothes that show my shape better people really noticed!

Hi Susan--this is the case for my sister. We have similar body types--height and weight. We lost same amount of weight @25 lbs. No one said a peep to her. Folks commented regularly on my changing body. It was a very interesting social experiment! We really have no way of knowing why this was/is. She thought she exuded a "vibe" that did not invite people to comment--ha ha! Who knows! The best part is that IP worked for both of us and we enjoyed long term maintenance. Both doing a reset/reboot currently. Enjoy this lifestyle change! Congrats on your 30lbs! #veggiesforlife

No one said anything at first, but when I lost a large amount people ask if I was ok, not sick or anything. Do it for you! As long as you notice and are happy with your results, that’s what counts. Keep up the good work, you should be proud of yourself

I started at 216 and was down to about 163 (just over 50 lbs) and I only changed one pants size and haven’t hardly purchased any new clothes. But goodness do I feel better about the control I have over my life and health and even though I don’t see it I have patients I haven’t seen in a year that hardly recognize me. Remember who you are doing this for.

I started my IP journey on 1/11/20 and, almost 3 months in, have lost 37 lbs. I've been working from home now for over a month and have lost 12 pounds since I last saw my coworkers. I hope to be at goal when I do go back to the office (another 8 pounds), probably at some point in May. It will be interesting to see if anyone notices.

Yes! Same here. It’s funny because the smaller I got the more people would say oh I love your hair cut. It’s like they knew I was looking better but not registering it was the weight. Then one day BAM my coworker said how did you loose like 15lbs over night? I laughed and said it was over 8weeks and it was 45lbs! now as I’m almost at goal I could wear my same clothes. They just fit better and different. Don’t stress! They will notice and then it will be funny to you!

While it’s nice for people to recognize our journey, I think we have to ask ourselves who are we doing it for? Us or them? For me, my weight loss is for me whether people can see it or not. Feel proud of your journey

Congrats on 30 that’s great! I had this happen too but my coach had mentioned that weight is a very touchy topic so some people may just be afraid to say anything if it’s a more serious problem, so that made me feel better about it.

I was around 330 and lost 50 which is probably comparable. My clothes still fit but are baggy. Not many people say a lot. But I think it’s a tricky subject. I’m sure they notice but they don’t want to say anything wrong like: you look great now as though you looked bad before or you’ve lost weight insinuating that you were heavy to begin with, then last but not least you could be sick and the weight loss may not be welcomed. Just some thoughts that I try to be aware of.
