I would like to try taking melatonin at night. I’m sort of an insomniac (on or off this diet- doesn’t matter). But most melatonin supps have sugar?! Can anyone recommend a phase 1 approved product that helps with sleep and doesn’t taste gross?! Thanks! (I’ve tried CALM. I don’t like it)
I would like to try taking melatonin at night.

I buy Rexall brand melatonin tablets at the dollar general store and they don’t have sugar. They work very well too.

I have used benedryl. It is the same active ingredient (for sleep) that is in Thankslenol PM.

@drye9 FYI, you might want to study up on benedryl and it's link to Alzheimer's!

Sunlight causes you’re body to make melatonin to use at nighttime. Are you able to go for a half hour walk and let some sunshine on you? Do not start taking medications daily unless prescribed by your doctor.

Myself, my girlfriend and my husband can’t take Melatonin. We have very vivid nightmares, like scary ones. Not sure what is in that stuff, but won’t take it ever again.

I can’t take it either, for the same reason

If you are having too vivid dreams, you are taking too strong of a tablet. Try a lower dose. That worked like a charm for me.

IP sells a calcium chew that has magnesium in it. Recommended you take it at bedtime. It helps you sleep. I used to take melatonin but this is much better and better for you.

I take 2 Benedryl every night with my Cal-mag. Sometimes I also throw 2 Ibuprofen or Thankslenol in the mix.

If you are going to take Melatonin - less is best. That's usually the problem people have with it. doesn't work so they take more. NO. take less if you go that route. I would rather see you take Magnesium but not CALM- it is magnesium citrate and can cause you to have loose stools. I take Designs for Health CAL/MAG. It is magnesium malate. I take 4 at night before bed. I have taken many different types of magnesium and this is by far the only one I would recommend.

Melatonin makes me extremely dizzy and nauseated. It’s a shame because people like it

@frequency it is, I just wanted you to be aware of possible side effects.

Daily use of Benadryl has been linked to early dementia. Be careful with melatonin because it lowers your blood pressure. My doctor won’t allow me to use it because of that. Have you tried an app like Calm? You could also do a hot bath before bed with lavender oil and Epson salt – the magnesium in the Epson is very helpful for sleep.

@periderm I take two Benadryl also.

There needs to be a balance between melatonin and serotonin. Don't screw this balance up

When I have periods of not being able to sleep. I take melatonin. I am very picky and work with an alternative pharmacist. The brand she recommended was PURE. You can get on Amazon. 3 mg usually works for me. And I only need to take for 3 to 4 weeks to get back on schedule. I also take 250 mg of magnesium every night. Years ago O was tested severely low in magnesium. Cured my nightly leg cramps and also constipation. Listen to your body, it tells you when something is wrong.
