I am of the mind that this diet created the problem and food/what you eat will undo it. ive been on IP for 5 mos and have had the problem the entire 5 months. there is no point in asking your doctor cuz if they personally have never experienced this level of discomfort, they cant help you. they all just parrot "eat more fiber". of the hundreds of sufferers who try to solve this problem, i have yet to find even 1 person who says that "eating more fiber" worked. and while we are on fiber, we are eating a ton of veggies, so why isnt this working? in my case, i work out with heavy weights (so im not a couch potato/sometimes blamed for constipation), drink way more than minimum water, and eat my veggies. I got sick and tired of using additional tablets, additives, drinks only to hope and pray movement would happen the next day (sometimes, it didnt), not to mention, taking some of these supps, long term, to me, cant be beneficial. in my frustration, i emailed IP corporate. I told them i can point to 2 areas: no fruit allowed on Phase 1 (i love fruit! it's been quite a hardship to not eat it. ) and excessive soy and soy bi products. They said there are 52 IP products that DONT have soy (all of which, i dont eat). that being said, 3 IP products that I eat all the time, do have soy. I have since read articles that say soy can lead to constipation. once i get to goal weight, i will cut these 3 products out of my diet. i only have 15 lbs to go. She did agree to let me start to eat fruit again and otherwise stay on Phase 1. I have decided to "eat an apple a day" when the urge moves me. I started on Monday (still taking my laxitives until i can move on my own). i am please to report that this is day 4 (with fruit) and i had a nice movement today, without any supplements. Hooray. It's only 1 day, so im not going to get too excited, but if this trend continues, i will report back with good news. if i get a consistent bowel movement for 2 weeks without supps, i will consider, that for me, adding fruit back into my diet helped my bowels move naturally.
