I've lost my touch with making hard boiled eggs. I can't seem to find the right way/amount of time to cook them to have them peel easily. Any suggestions? I hate losing so much of the egg whites when they don't peel easily.

I put hot water in a pan, drop a dozen eggs in bring the eggs to boil and once they’re boiling for about a minute I put a lid on and shut it off and let them sit there for 13 minutes perfect eggs every time

I eat hardboiled eggs daily, starting them in cold water and putting a timer on for 10 minutes when they start to boil. Then I use a spoon to peel them - makes it so easy! Smack it all over with a spoon and then break through the bigger end where the air bubble is and work the spoon between the egg and that layer of skin before the shell, using the spoon as leverage to pop the shell off.

Use at least a week old (from the store) eggs. Place in pan with enough water to cover. Turn heat on high and bring to a boil then remove from heat. Let sit 10 minutes then immerse eggs in ice water until completely cool. Refridgerate up to a week after cooking. I use an egg cooker from amazon that cooks 7 at a time with very little water. I love it! After it "dings: I immerse ggs as described above and viola! Perfect hard cooked eggs!

The eggs have to be really cold or they are horrible to peel. Cold water for at least half hour after they come off the stove.

I put them in a pot of cold water, put on the stove and time 20 minutes. I then run them under cold water, while cracking the ends (the pointed ends) - one of those ends has an air bubble - find the right end, and start to peel and they will peel very easily. This works every time for me and I didn't have to buy yet another "gadget".

@suspensory957 this is exactly how I do it! But instead of poking a hole, I run cold water over them and add lots of ice. I peel them as needed!

Fail proof. large eggs. bring water to a boil (enough to cover the egg) add egg to boiling water. Boil for 10 minutes. Remove and run cold water over them. This shocks the egg and they peel perfectly!

I used to have a hard time with losing whites to the shells, too! I've learned to wait until my eggs are about 2 weeks old from the time I bought them. Bring to boil in pot with a dash of salt, and the water just covering the eggs. Once boiling, turn off burner. Leave pot on burner, and cover. Set timer for 20 minutes. When timer is through, pour out hot water. Shake the pot to crack shells a bit. Fill with cold water, and repeat. Let sit for a few minutes. Then, start peeling! The shells should come right off!

I have an egg cooker(great cooking tool and not expensive) after they are through I take them and dip immediately in ice cold water for a few seconds; put on paper towel and roll with slight hand pressure to crack shell all over; shell falls off easily. Never fails me. Good luck!

Baking soda! Add a tsp. To your water before boiling, add eggs cook 12 minutes. Drain and add cool water or ice. This works with even the freshest eggs!

So many different theories. the more fresh the egg the harder it is to peel.
