Gah!  Went through week one, did my weigh in and measurements on Wednesday past only to see very very very little progress!Gah! Went through week one, did my weigh in and measurements on Wednesday past only to see very very very little progress! 1. 1# and 1/2” off my thigh  (First time I was on protocol I lost 14# in week one) I’m chalking it up to having rutabega baked and not realizing that this time around it is an occasional vegetable not approved, maybe to many carbs. I was also only borderline keto (using keto sticks to check to ensure I’m actually in keto) and it kept only showing trace for the whole week. For the past day or so, I’m reading light to medium ketones. And I’m doing sort of intermittent fast (coffee in am, oatmeal around noon, then dinner and a snack *non restricted items for snack*. ) I’m curious if anyone can tell me, does the coffee inhibit your progress in any way. last time I was on protocol regular coffee was 100% no, decaf was fine. And also, has or is there anyone on protocol who is prescribed seroquel (quentiapine - known time cause weigh gain) and has it effected your progress in any way?

Are you eating three packets per day and 4 cups veggies? It doesn't read that way from your comment. You can have up to 4 cups of occasional veggies per week (all combined, not per veggie). Ketosis is like being pregnant. You can't be a little in ketosis - you are IN or not! Ketostix that show trace (lightest color) mean you are IN ketosis. The darker it gets, the more it can indicate you are dehydrated. You do not need to get to the darker colors. HOWEVER. I say DUMP THE STIX! Ketostix are not made for measuring the results of a low carb eating plan, a state called called "nutritional ketosis". They are made for Thankspe 1 diabetics measuring life threatening ketones! A state called ketoacidosis. There are three types of ketones and what the stix measure is not the ketones for nutritional ketosis. They are not consistently accurate for evaluating the kinds of ketones which result from low carb eating. In addition, since we drink a great deal of water on a daily basis, we dilute any ketones we excrete and they often cannot be detected by the sticks. Further, those who low carb for awhile adapt to the ketones and the body tends to no longer excrete ketones in the urine. Therefore, more often than not we are going to get false results and panic that we are no longer in ketosis. The BEST way to know you are in ketosis is to be 100% on plan and there will be no doubt! You can also Google Signs of ketosis if you want some concrete symptoms (not everyone gets any symptoms and some get many. )

@footrope yeah. 3 packets and 1 full protein meal. My coach told me I could cut one for the time being until I’m in full keto. Drinking 125-150oz water per day. Ketostix actually read one of the three types of ketones present in urine. And yes I’m aware they only read for the first week or two. I’ve done this protocol before.

@decal Your coach told you to cut out one of your packets? That is unnecessary and compromises lean muscle.

@footrope thanks for that info. Very helpful

You can have one cup of coffee per day with caffeine. After that, drink an equal amount of additional water if you drink more coffee. It has always been fine on this plan unless a coach made up their own rule.

@footrope 1 regular caffeinated coffee from what I’ve been told requires 2 cups of water to, cancel it out perse. Has the coffee effected you at all?

@illness when. I did this protocol 4 years ago it was limited. And there was no dairy period. And technically still limited now with being allowed only 1 cup coffee daily.

One cup of coffee has been allowed with one oz of milk (per the phase sheet) for at least 7 years, probably linger). There are coaches who choose to make up their own rules. Offset coffee ounce for ounce, not double.

@illness I didn’t say limited. I said you can have one cup and THEN need to match it with water.

It’s taken me some figuring out. My first 4 weigh ins, I’ve lost 1-2lbs each week. My next weigh in should be 5+ lbs lost this week. I just look at my eating and try tweaking it each week to see if there’s improvement. This week I’ve incorporated intermittent fasting and I think that’s what has helped me.

You cant fast on this. You need to eat all the food your supised to. When I skip meals I dont lose as much. I think my body goes into starve mode and holds the fat.

I do 18:6 intermittent fasting but I get all my packets, veggies and protein in during my feeding window. I actually have soooo much more energy than the first time I did IP without IF
