What are the perks of trying IP? It seems like most of the posts I see, people are miserable and dealing with a lot of cons. Isn't easier to just count calories and watch what you're eating?

Everyone complains about every diet because they just don't allow for all the beer, wine, pizza, bread and candy we want. They also keep trying to make IP hard by asking about lots of foods and if they are allowed. Reality is, you get a sheet of paper with a "menu" it says eat a packet, take these pills, eat a packet and vegis take your pills, eat protein vegis, have a snack. On the same sheet below the menu is a list of every single food allowed that is not an IP pack. You eat the sheet. Simple.

This was the first diet that worked for me and that I completed and made my goal weight. I am lucky also because I NEVER felt bad when I started either. I lost 50 pounds and feel soo much better. It’s retrained my brain, eating habits and improved the terrible relationship that I had with food. I know that I cannot go back to old eating habits and The great thing is. I don’t feel like I need to. I continue to eat a healthy, low carb lifestyle in maintenance and LOVE it.

One perk? You lose 105 lbs like I did! I have friends who have had gastric bypass and haven’t lost this much. Yeah this diet is tough. But so is being so overweight that you’re unhealthy. That’s tougher. It’s so worth it.

I have no cons. I love it. Lost 112lbs. Really enjoy the food, love knowing how to eat healthy the rest of my life, lots of energy, 21BMI, 17%body fat. It’s great.

I love this plan. It is easy to follow and it works! It has changed my eating habits and hopefully it will be a lifestyle change I can maintain. I honestly have not felt better. The support from my coach is amazing.

IP WORKS! It's more about eliminating the bad foods in your diet and creating a habit of eating healthy. I was a sugarholic and it's tough to give up all the foods that taste good, but they were foods that made me fat and unhealthy. I have been on IP since July and I have lost 28. 90 pounds - 25. 40 pounds of FAT and 20. 5 inches! Is it worth it? YES. Once I made up my mind I didn't want to be fat anymore it was a game changer for me. I hope your pros outweigh your cons.

After the first week, I found it really easy to do. I'm not trying to sprint to the finish line. I've lost 14 lbs in five weeks and so happy with that. Today, I am wearing jeans that I couldn't even pull on the day I started and now I have to keep pulling them up LOL '

I’m not miserable at all! In fact I feel so much better when I’m eating IP when I’m on vacation I can’t wait to get home and jump back on the program and it works like nothing else! You just have to learn to tweak the package to your liking and I promise you will start even craving them ;-)

Everyone has different symptoms when they start this new eating plan for me it was the mood swings for others constipation hair loss keto flu or other things. It was hard work other times a breeze with lots of emotions surfacing and we navigate thru that. Because of IP I have discovered new vegetables and how to cook them, better cuts of meat and why, lots of creative recipes shared, etc. I felt extremely proud of myself for losing the weight and on maintenance keeping it off except for 11 lbs. Why because I love bread, cheese, etc. I have learned how to read nutritional label including ingredient labels. I have learned how the food industry sabotages how we buy & eat. Now, when I want to drink a soda or buy donuts I read the label and see the carbs & sugar grams and it is not worth it and I put it back and walk away. IP has a variety of products for different tastes. I also monitor my extra goody so not to overdo it.

I’m down 27 lbs in 2 months. It’s not that difficult if you just stay focused on why you’re doing this to begin with.

No way! I feel great on the diet! But I remember to take all the supplements & lite salt! What I love about this diet is how fast you lose weight without exercise! 2-4 lbs a week! Amazing! And like I said I feel great! It's also important to drink enough water, some people may not be doing all things neccessary for optimum effects.

I love it! It works and I personally like the food (minus a few choice packets but I choose to not buy those). It’s easy, straight forward and convenient. If you stick to the plan you WILL lose the weight! Just like everything else in life, if you want something you have to work for it. Don’t go into it with a negative mindset and you will excel! Good luck!

No appetite, easier meal planning, portability (I can just shove a packet of chips, some pickles or cucumbers, or a salad in my purse and go), oh yeah, and the best part. 40 pounds gone.
by (6.4k points)
Also, some of the complaining is because you may have to retrain your taste buds a little bit. If french fries or chocolate are thing now. well it's going to be a struggle to switch to broccoli and asparagus. However once you've been on the plan long enough you lose your taste for that stuff and your brain will start thinking "veg" instead of "Hershey's"

Everything is a con in this world but also being overweight, fat, and miserable! I had NO symptoms at all when I started. This program gives you life and the will to overcome an eating addiction. Also, so much energy, focus, sleeping better and feeling better! Good luck to you!

I’m also not miserable at all! It’s been a game changer for weight loss! I’m down 17lbs since middle of January. IP works if you “eat the sheet”!

I don’t have to count anything it’s easy and you see results. misery will vary depending on the person and it isn’t for everyone. My clinic does it and it is medically supervised. I have had to take a break on the first phase due to trips or illness but I have rebooted and now I’m 10lbs away from my goal

I didn’t have a lot of weight to lose but I had high cholesterol and at 44 my doctor wanted to put me on cholesterol meds. I went on IP and lost 25 pounds and got my cholesterol down 50 points. That was the benefit for me! NO MEDS!

IP is the only program I have tried where I was able to see results quickly, which in my inpatient mind, helped me to keep going! I would recommend this to anyone serious about getting healthy and shedding fat. Its tough, but anything in life worth it, is.

I am on week 4 and love it! Had to learn the app (old dog, new tricks) but live my local support, and recipe ideas in cookbook. I am walking, and down about 15 lbs, reeling terrific And going to continue.

@lagniappe8850. The IP app, downloaded it, and my coach syncs it with her data and scale at weigh ins

I absolutely love this program. Anytime you make a change, it’s difficult. I’ve tried so many ways in the past to lose weight & sometimes was somewhat successful. I never got to the end goal, and always gained it back (and then some). I had a lot of issues more recently, including high blood pressure, high cholesterol, & Thankspe II Diabetes. My main goal was to get healthy. I knew I needed help & that it had to be a lifestyle change. It worked. I lost 88 pounds, got off all meds & feel fantastic! I have continued onto maintenance for continued support & help so I won’t fall back into that same pattern. If it was as easy as “watch what you eat” wouldn’t that be wonderful? That may work for some, but not many. This is a place where we can turn to each other with questions, ideas, for support, and yes, maybe sometimes complain to others that get it. Good luck to you!

Losing weight seeing the scale move that’s the perks. Feeling clear and full of energy. The negative are limited choices like all weight loss

You have to find what works for you. WW twice didn’t do it for me. And I even worked with a trainer for two years. This program just works. And I’m learning the ratio of carbs and sugars that’ll help me maintain. It’s not for everyone, but it’s the only one that’s worked for me.

I felt better almost immediately. As of today I’m down 45 lbs. 7 lbs under goal. I’m now in phase 2 stabilization. I really like the program and am rarely hungry. I have RA and haven’t felt this good in a long time!

Less to do with calories, more to do with how I feel. The first few days for me were tough but within a week, inflammation was down, I was sleeping better and had more energy. Once you’re in ketosis your body stops craving the carbs and I’m satisfied way quicker. Becomes an eat to live rather than live to eat!

You "try" diets. You "live" IP. It is a learning experience that allows you to control your body for the rest of your life. Ask any one of us how many "diets" we have been on.  You don't usually hear from the people that have stabilized and have gone forward with their lives. What you hear about here is the people that side stepped, or didn't phase off, and have had to start again. Any change of eating can be difficult, but if you learn how to live your new life, it's not that tough. I am in maintenance after 65 pounds off. Blood pressure normal. Joints happier. Love the new clothes. More confidence. Never going back.

The ones who are miserable are the ones who are not following the program or the ones who expect to loose 5-10 pounds a week. Its like any diet or life style change, stick to it, it works.

It’s worth it. Not everyone has good experiences but you have to follow the rules, be creative with cooking too and don’t cheat! Buy the cookbook it’s the best thing I did to keep me full and provide variety

The IP foods support the protein fats and carbs for healthy weightloss. I stick to my faves (go with what tastes good and is satiating to you). I've had the most success with this than anything else. Maybe because I'm accountable to my coach but I need that. Also I like having the grab and go up foods(shakes, lemon bars vanilla squares etc) so I dont eat garbage when Im hungry and too busy to prepare. You really learn portion control with measuring and weighing. Some say its expensive but I believe your costs are offset with the crap you no longer buy. I'm a slow loser on any program but 13 pounds in 5 weeks is a big deal for me. My goal was 40 so only 27 to go. If stay the course I will reach my goal in just over 10 more weeks. Bottom line is I feel great, I'm never hungry and I dont feel deprived. I have never been able to say that on any other weight loss plan. This teaches lifestyle change. It's not a diet.

I think it’s wonderful and it works if you work it. I am down 82 pounds on it when many other programs didn’t work for me,

I love that there is no counting points or calories. I never have to figure out how much chocolate cake I can eat or how many carrots. It is clear cut, black and white, eat the sheet. Not on the sheet? Don't eat it.

My husband and I lost a little weight but the products are ridiculously expensive and most taste bad. It just seemed so processed and unnatural.
by (7.3k points)
@belamy Bice the results outweigh the price. I am able to manage diet with few innovations in cooking.
by (3.3k points)
Most of what puts weight ON us is processed and unnatural unfortunately.
by (390 points)
@belamy Codner I agree. We are doing much better on NOOM, eating whole, real food and exercising more. I’m an avid cook so eating crappy tasting meals just for the sake of weight loss doesn’t fit in our lives. I am NOT judging. Everyone should do what works for them!

My husband and I have done very well on this diet and don’t mind it. We eat an Ip breakfast, then snacks and veggies and meat for the rest of the day. I would recommend this diet if you’ve tried everything with no success

I have read most of the comments and I agree with them. I am on week 7. I have lost 24 lbs and feel really good. I felt so much better after week 1. The con for me is the cost. I am single and a blue collar worker. If I didn't have money in my HSA account I could not afford this. I know I will not be able to stay on IP until I lose all the weight I need to lose but I do feel it has been worth it. Lately I think about what I would be eating 2 months ago and I see all the bad choices I was making then.

I liked the program I lost 80 pounds in 5 months! But it was a costly diet!
by (3.7k points)
@wu44 I have a hard time to understand the cost complaints. Although I see the point that you pay it all at once, it's hard to believe you'll eat healthy food spending less than $5/meal. What am I missing?

This isn't my experience. I found the products to taste better than I imagined. Some of them are very good, even better than regular products in the market. I also benefit from a structure that guides me on how to eat and provide me with a weekly check-in. It helps with measuring and, mostly, it keeps me accountable for my results. So far, I put off 31. 1lbs in 5 weeks. It may or may not be for you, but I'm very happy with IP. Good luck with your goals!
