Has anyone intentionally knocked themself out of ketosis during a stall? If so, was it helpful in getting you back on track?

I did. My (first) goal was 100lbs by a certain date. That last month and last 5pounds were gruesome! The 11 months prior I was a steady 4-5 lbs a week loss, the last month it’s like the universe was plotting against me . I had already planned though once I hit this goal I was taking a break and then going for 40 more. Wednesday is my day to tackle the 40 lbs! I’m going to put my head down, recommit, and tackle this like I did my first goal. I honestly believe to be successful on this journey you have to love yourself more than anything else and always keep your eye on your prize

@stork97 Congratulations on 100lbs down. That's awesome. How long did you break for?
by (14.9k points)
@factitious thank you ☺️ I took off three weeks. I only gained 4. 7 lbs and my coach told me to expect to gain 10-15. I just watched what I ate. I honestly think that some of our bodies get used to the things we’re trying to “trick” it into doing. My only advice is once you start back be as focused if not more than you were before.

@stork97 thank you. I only cheated yesterday. Should I extend it
by (14.9k points)
@factitious I did because I wanted to totally reset my body. It actually took me a few days to come out of ketosis. Everyone’s body is different. But I needed a complete break for myself that’s why I decided that time frame

How do you know your in ketosis if your stalled. genuine question. I'm an old pro at dieting but still have a hard time understanding ketosis.
by (870 points)
@irmairme as long as you have been following protocol 100%, you should be in ketosis. I have been following 100% since January 15th, and I've done really well with weight loss but the last 4 weeks has been practically no weight loss
by (620 points)
@factitious started the 7th of Jan. And been stalling since March 12. Not a single cheat. Increased walking. Coach says maybe stress. Whatever it is, it’s annoying AF.
by (870 points)
@ramon same. And I agree this is stressful time. I'm rooting for you
by (17k points)
@ramon you and Natalie are great . thanks for your stories. cant say i have stuck to it. but i want to invite you to a coming out party. of shock and awe for when we get done with this. send in pics and stories of what we are doing to do when this is over. I guess we can start now. my reason why is my grandkids. i want to do more with them. Get out of the car and really play with them. And have a Come As You Are party like we did when i was young and play all night.

I ate whatever I wanted to eat this weekend. I'm down 32 lbs and just needed to completely enjoy the weekend. I didn't go crazy but had some sugar. Stayed away from the TV news too. I thoroughly enjoyed it. Back on track today!
by (17k points)
@blas10 thanks for the message. and i bet your family needed to have you back for that one day too. Its a good reward for your hard work too. im inviting you to a coming out party when this is over with pics and stories of what you are going to do

@ramon our bodies actually have a hormonal change withour cortisol that slows the weight loss. so whatever we can do to relax. im getting out and walking getting some sunshine and start my gardening.
by (17k points)
@factitious stress. try to relax more.
by (870 points)
@irmairme yes, I agree. I'm trying to avoid the news so much. I take daily walks with my husband to get fresh air
by (870 points)
@blas10 I'm at the same weight loss as you. 32lbs exactly.
by (17k points)
@factitious great to hear. and im going to have a nice bubble bath every night. helps me sleep. using dish soap for bubbles til i find bubble bath.

Im at 32 as well! I broke down and had a hamburger with a little cheese and a bite of key lime pie. Fortunately it didn’t kick me out of ketosis and I lost weight this morning .
by (8.6k points)
@blas10 I did exactly the same thing . thus works, my guilty pleasure was cheese, and an apple, and my moms Easter bread❤️Today, I’m back on track.

@factitious me too! A pound a week but I’ve been having little cheats cheers to better days/weeks! We got this!

I am wondering the same thing.
by (870 points)
@arezzo10 I guess we will see. I ate pasta salad for lunch and had a serving of rice with my dinner meal. I only did it for one day in hopes that I could start the process over

When i stall i hit the water hard.
by (17k points)
My stalls are usually cause i quit eating so much . so i went off protocol .

The last time I got kicked out of ketosis, my weight stayed the same for a week, I got the keto flu, and then dropped like 4 lbs overnight.
by (870 points)
@ziagos that would be wonderful. Hate to go through the flu again but it will be worth it to get moving again

How are people going into Ketosis ? I need to speak to my coach to confirm, but I’ve been following protocol and I still average 45-65gm of carbs (I’m on 4 IP meals a day)
by (34k points)
@pageantry Under 50 net carbs keeps you in ketosis. The plan is designed to keep you 25-45 net.
by (3.5k points)
Oh I wasn’t subtracting fiber ! I thought it was 20-30 net carbs to be in ketosis - thanks!

A stall us four or more consecutive weeks being 100% on plan with NO change of pounds OR inches. THE LITERAL "COST" OF CHEATING = $72 Think of it this way and you may not think the cheat was "worth it" (literally not worth it! ) . It takes 3-4 days to get back into ketosis. $4 per packet x 3 per day = $12 packets per day $12 x 4 days = $48 in packets you have to buy JUST to get back to where you were before the cheat. Add to that the cost of your meat and veggies for four days, say $6 per day x 4 days = $24. Your piece of cake, glass of wine, garlic bread, etc. set you back at least $72!
by (870 points)
@footrope it has been for weeks with no changes. 100% eating the sheet. Taking walks around the neighborhood daily. Drinking water, taking supplements. I think $72 is a very small price to pay to get moving again versus the amount I'm paying weekly to stay at a standstill.
by (3.1k points)
@footrope I’m in the same boat. Losing maybe a half a pound a week- is it worth it? I’m following protocol 100%.
by (3.1k points)
Oh probably meant to reply to Natasha.
by (870 points)
@alienation58 its alot of money spent to not see the results that you anticipate
by (3.1k points)
I did this 5 years ago and lost steadily nearly 50 pounds. This time I only needed to lose 15 and it’s been so slow!
by (870 points)
I'm sticking with it because I really stocked up on food since I've been social distancing. I have maybe a months supply left. If I run out of food and I'm still at a standstill. I will choose another route. Good luck to you. 15lbs is not a lot to lose. I have about another 25lbs

I feel the same last 2 weeks lost . 8 and 1 lb this week. i have to reevaluate and maybe increase vegetables and water. the way i see it stalling is no weight loss. i think there are times our body fights it and we have to fight back.
